John Phillips

John Phillips

President

John is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute and holds an MBA from Virginia Tech. He is a longtime resident of the Town of Blacksburg and has worked in various roles in the Roanoke and New River Valleys. His experience spans from leading the Economic Development Office at Virginia Tech to assisting in the launch of the Knowledgeworks program at the VT-CRC. john has years of experience mentoring entrepreneurs, has assisted numerous start-ups in their pursuit of capital, and has deep experience navigating the university’s technology transfer process.  In addition to his civilian career John is retired from the United States Army Reserve where he completed a 30 year career retiring as a Colonel.

Lindsey Eversole

Lindsey Eversole

Director of Programs & Events

Lindsey Eversole serves as the new Director of Programs and Events for the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council (RBTC). She brings over 10 years of experience in event planning, outreach and marketing, program development, and customer relations. Eversole managed the VT Global Entrepreneur Partnership for a decade, a cooperative association of regions and institutions from all over the world, gathering in Roanoke-Blacksburg for a 10-day celebration of entrepreneurship. Prior to this, Eversole served as Member Services Manager at VT KnowledgeWorks, a business resource center supporting entrepreneurs and startups. As a former member of the National Business Incubation Association, Eversole completed the Incubator Management Certification Program. She served three years on the board of the Virginia Business Incubation Association, as well as six years on the board of NRV CARES, a child abuse prevention agency, including serving as Board President. Eversole began her career at Accenture, is a proud Hokie, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech.

Sarah Phillips

Sarah Phillips

Membership Coordinator

In addition to her role as membership coordinator for the RBTC, Sarah is also the project manager for the Regional Accelerator and Mentoring Program (RAMP). Previously, she was an AmeriCorps member working for RAMP Director, Mary Miller. A recent graduate of Virginia Tech, Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree in international studies with a concentration in business and a minor in French.

Mary Miller

Mary Miller

Director of Regional Acceleration and Mentoring Program (RAMP)

Prior to becoming Director of RAMP, Dr. Mary Guy Miller was president and founder of Interactive Design and Development, Inc. (IDD), an award-winning IT firm in Blacksburg, Virginia. Under her leadership, IDD served a wide range of organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, for more than 27 years. Additionally, Mary has provided IT solutions for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Smithsonian Institution, and the Library of Congress. Mary was a founding member and former president of the RBTC and has served on many boards and advisory committees, including Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering Committee of 100. Dr. Miller received her master’s of information science (MIS), as well as her doctorate in instructional design from Virginia Tech. When she’s not working, Mary enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren.
