One Week Left: Virginia’s COVID-19 safety training deadline approaching and fast

Join us as we hear from Woods Rogers’ attorneys Dan Summerlin, Victor Cardwell, and Leah Stiegler on VA Department of Labor’s “Emergency Temporary Standard,” effective August 26, 2020. You’ll learn how to determine the risk level of your workplace, steps to educate employees about COVID-19, and safety measures that must be taken to be in compliance with the new ETS.

Dan Summerlin, President and Principal

Dan Summerlin’s experience covers a scope of law from administrative and regulatory, with an emphasis on environmental, to labor and employment. His employment clients call upon him to provide training to their supervisors and workforce, provide guidance on human resource issues that arise during daily operations including discipline and termination advice and compliance issues with FLSA, ADA, Title VII, NLRA, and FMLA. Dan has extensive experience representing clients during EEOC investigations and in employment litigation in state and federal courts.

Victor Cardwell, Chairman and Principal

Victor Cardwell co-chairs the Woods Rogers’ Labor and Employment practice team. He practices labor and employment law throughout the U.S., focusing on diversity, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and labor/management relations—including union-organizing campaigns and union-avoidance techniques, and workplace violence. He counsels executive and human resources managers on a wide range of employer concerns—from harassment, sexual orientation/transgender, retaliation, and discrimination, to workforce reductions, handbooks and agreements, unfair competition, wage/hour compliance, health and disability, discipline/discharge, and employee leave.

Leah Stiegler, Associate

Leah strategically advises employers on compliance with employment laws and defends actions before agencies including the EEOC, DOL, and NLRB. Leah has substantial federal trial experience, conducts workplace and board training sessions, and guides managers through workplace investigations. In addition to public speaking, Leah works extensively with employers to develop employment contracts, workplace policies, and employee handbooks that suit specific company-specific needs.
